It's been just under a week since Checkley Brook Cyder was on ITV's Countrywise Kitchen. Apart from the nervous anticipation I quite enjoyed watching. Fortunately we were only on for three minutes or so so it wasn't too excruciating. People have been taking the mike out of my accent; I was trying to sound posh - i.e. not swear on prime time TV. Anyway it was good to see more hits on the website - though no sales have materialised yet. Oh well if it had been too popular I probably wouldn't have enough for demand supplying three pubs already. A big thanks to all the Countrywise crew for making it happen.

Checkley Brook Cyder on Countrywise

I enjoyed the feature, though as a cidermaker I inevitably find these things barely scratch the surface and leave me wanting more.
ReplyDeletePublicity is a funny thing. We've featured several times in full page colour articles in our regional press, as well as on BBC local radio, none of which have resulted in any direct sales interest to my knowledge. Though who's to say how many seeds are planted which result in later sales. I can't help thinking that the kind of people who would be interested in our ciders and perrys are not the sort who buy local papers or listen to local radio. I suspect national media has a different audience entirely. I don't get too excited when the media come calling now, and like you, we couldn't really cope with a big surge in sales anyway.
Yes. Looking back over the last month or so we have not and one direct sales from the programme. Oh well.
